The Development Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the development strategy for Mudlark Theater. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director will work closely with the staff and board to achieve Mudlark’s fundraising goals. Duties include: planning and executing fundraising events, grant writing, major gift cultivation, individual donor contact and solicitation, donor database management, and securing gifts from foundations and corporations.


1) Develop goals and strategies to execute Mudlark’s annual fundraising plan

2) Secure financial support from individuals, foundations, and corporations

3) Oversee the administration of donor mailing list and database

4) Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors

5) Create a balanced funding mix of donor sources and solicitation

programs tailored to the needs of the organization

6) Solicit and coordinate local business sponsorships

7) Coordinate in-kind donations

8) Ensure proper acknowledgement of all gifts

9) Develop and track grant proposals and reports for all foundation

and corporate fundraising

10) Oversee the implementation of Mudlark's annual benefit and other small fundraising events


1) A minimum of 2 years professional fundraising experience, preferably with significant foundation, corporate, and major donor fundraising experience

2) Ability to develop/manage budgets and prepare financial reports

3) Experience managing multiple projects and initiatives

4) Proven management and leadership capabilities

5) High energy, positive "can do" attitude, flexible team player, and willing to take initiative

6) Excellent interpersonal skills with a strong emphasis on oral

communication and the ability to participate in public speaking

7) Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

8) Excellent written communication skills

9) Strong partnership and event planning skills

10) Interest, enthusiasm, and affinity for fundraising and working with people

11) Computer literacy, with experience in fundraising databases

12) Grant writing experience
