Volunteer opportunities

We ask that all participants in a Mudlark show are required to fulfill 3 Volunteer Tech Hours as part of accepting a role in one of our shows.

Volunteer Tech Hours can include helping with

- Box Office or Concession for 1 Performance
- Costume Build Days (scheduling coming September 1st)
- Clean Up Days at Mudlark HQ (scheduling coming September 1st)
- Strike (the Sunday of closing night).
- Volunteering at a Fundraiser or other Special Event.
- Working backstage on Stage Crew, Hair and Makeup or Costume Crew.

What are Volunteer Tech Hours?

The Practical Reason

Mudlark has gone through tremendous growth in the last 3 years. Just two years ago, we were doing 3 shows a season. Now we're doing 5. Our productions have also gotten more ambitious and sophisticated. In order to keep our prices affordable, both for our participants and our audiences, we have come to depend more and more on volunteer help from our incredible community.

The Philisophical Reason

Our mission is to create professional quality theater with children and to give our young actors an understanding, grounded in actual experience, of how professional theater works. And theatre is always a collaboration, between actors, directors and the designers who bring the world of our plays to life. We want actors who leave our programs to have a respect and understanding for just how essential technical theatre artists are to the work we do.

The Family Reason

Many of our actors are already volunteering often and eagerly to help outside of just performing in our shows because they care about Mudlark and they care about their friends in the shows. As our community grows, it's important to us that Mudlark still feel like a family that supports each other, on and off the stage.
