There is a mystery unfolding at the Lark School of the Arts... and we need your help to solve it. At this ancient school tasked with training its students in the Four Arts - Performing, Physical, Martial, and Magical - trouble is afoot. Calling upon their skills in character building, improv, and problem solving, students will play through this original pen and paper role playing game while building and exercising new theater tools. Bring your pencils and your imaginations, and come ready to play.
Join us on those pesky D65 Wednesday half-days for an afternoon workshop full of creative fun! For November and December we have workshops geared towards both 7-9 and 10-14 year olds (7-9 and 10-14 workshops run concurrently on the same dates).
November 7th from 1-4:30PM
Join us for an action packed few hours of games and improv exploring what happens when a ship full of strangers crashes on a deserted island. How long we stay there, what society we build, and if we can escape is all up to you. Will you help us get off the island… or do you have other plans?
COSTUMES AND CHARACTERS
December 5th 1-4:30PM
Spend an afternoon creating the wackiest, zaniest, and wildest characters you can dream up. Every character gets a costume, and every costume gets a character! Join us for this preview of one of our popular summer camps.
MUDLARK MURDER MYSTERY
OCTOBER 3RD from 1-4:30PM
Join us in solving an original murder mystery written just for this workshop! Every student will get a character and through physical and vocal improvisation games will develop their backstory and persona as we uncover clues to the what, where, why, and how of the tragic (fake) murder of one of Mudlark’s staff. Can you help us solve the mystery?
NOVEMBER 7TH from 1-4:30PM
Get a crash course in devising as we come together to create an original short play in just three and a half hours! Through a series of improvisation games and group devising activities we will generate a 5-10 minute play that showcases the skills and imaginations of every student. Will it be silly? Terrifying? Fantastical? It’s up to you to decide.
AUDITIONS & CALLBACKS
DECEMBER 5TH from 1-4:30PM
Auditions and callbacks are a lot more than monologues – they often consist of cold readings, group games, and devising. Practice and hone these skills while learning more about what you may be asked to do at any given audition and getting constructive feedback on your work. Come ready to make big, fun choices!
